In January, you received your individual soil, water and vegetable results. Since then, I have received several requests to give a talk discussing the overall results from the entire project. Of course, no problem! I am happy to deliver the overall results of the controlled greenhouse study and the Dewey-Humboldt, Arizona community samples.

Please join me on Thursday June 21, 2012 from 6:00PM to 7:00PM in the Dewey-Humboldt Town Library (2735 S Corral Street, Humboldt, AZ 86329).

Lunch and Results will be served!
Together, we will eat, handout your results, discuss the results of your garden, and learn about soil and water chemistry, water treatment systems, and human health risk assessment.

The Garden tour set for September 7th have been cancelled, Jeff Schalau, the Yavapai Extension Agent who would be leading us is unavailable due to family matters.

2) New Samples Collection time - Wednesday 8/31/11, 3PM instead of Friday 8/26/11

Where to get a kit to participate in Gardenroots?

If you are interested in participating in Gardenroots, please contact me, Monica Ramirez-Andreotta.

You can pick up a kit near you at the Lonesome Valley Wranglers 4-H Clubhouse, 13911 Quail Run, Dewey, Arizona. You will need to coordinate a time for pick up, again please contact me.

Directions: from the intersection of Hwy 69 and Hwy 169, go east on 169 for 1.2 miles to Foothill Dr, turn right (south) on Foothill Dr and continue 1.1 miles to Quail Run, turn right (west) on Quail Run and the clubhouse is a short distance on the right with a 4-H Clover on the mailbox.

Join Us for a Community Health Talk

This will be an informational session regarding the contaminants of concern found at the Iron King Mine and Humboldt Smelter Superfund Site. It will be a informal panel/Q&A session with several investigators from The University of Arizona. This informational session will be held at the Dewey-Humboldt Town Library, 2735 S. Corral Street on Thursday June 2, 2011 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

Dear Gardenroots Participants,

Jeff Schalau, University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Agent, will be offering 2 two-hour gardening seminars for beginning vegetable gardeners on May 3 between 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at Lonesome Valley Wranglers 4-H Clubhouse, 13911 Quail Run, Dewey, Arizona*.

Both seminars will be identical and will cover: soil amendment/preparation, fencing, irrigation, warm vs. cool season crops, season extending strategies, pest management/crop protection, and more.
